The Securidou Movement Monitor uses under-mattress sensor technology:

What is an under-mattress movement monitor?
An under-mattress movement monitor is a sensor that slides under the bedding and detects the body's micro-movements during sleep. The sensor is piezoelectric: it converts a mechanical deformation into a signal, without emitting anything towards your baby and without any accessory being worn. The Securidou model triggers an audible alert when no movement is detected for 20 seconds, with three sensitivity levels to adjust according to the child's weight and the thickness of the mattress. It runs on battery or USB, without a Wi-Fi connection, which makes it independent of the home network.
What this monitor is not
This product is a movement alert device. It is not a medical device: it detects no medical condition and makes no diagnosis. It replaces neither adult supervision, nor your healthcare professional's recommendations on putting your baby to sleep, nor medical advice. An under-mattress sensor can also miss a movement, or signal one that is not one: an alert is not proof, and the same goes for the absence of an alert. If you have the slightest concern about your baby's sleep or breathing, the right step is to seek medical advice, not to add a device.

Yes. The sensor is compatible with all standard cot mattresses for your baby, up to 12 cm thick. It simply goes under the mattress, whether in a standard cot, a travel cot or a Moses basket. No complicated installation is needed.
The Movement Monitor and the baby monitor are complementary. The movement monitor keeps track of your baby's movements, while a baby monitor lets you see and hear your baby from a distance. No, never. The sensor goes under the mattress, between the mattress and the cot base. Your baby sleeps normally without any device worn, no bracelet, no connected sock. It is one of the main advantages: no direct contact, no cable nor accessory around your baby.
The alarm uses a progressive system: it starts softly, then quickly increases in intensity to alert the parents. The volume is designed to wake a sleeping adult.
