Write to usThree criteria set a good baby car mirror apart: the material, the surface, then the fitting. A benchmark model should use high-resistance acrylic (no glass, no thin plastic), offer an XL convex surface of at least 20 × 15 cm to cover the whole seat, and have adjustable double safety straps. The Securidou Mirror meets these three criteria. Its surface measures 24.5 × 17.5 cm and its ball joint turns through 360°, whereas most low-cost models at €8-15 use thin plastic or a fixed frame.
A mirror for monitoring a rear-facing baby lets you see your baby in the central rear-view mirror, without turning your upper body or looking round.
The two adjustable straps adapt to the different types of headrest: round, flat, thin (compact) or thick (SUVs, MPVs) bars. Compatible with saloons, estates, SUVs, MPVs or vans. Installation is tool-free: pass the straps around the headrest facing your baby, adjust the tension, and angle the 360° ball joint towards your central rear-view mirror. If your vehicle has fixed (non-removable) headrests, allow 1 extra minute to slide the straps through.
The risk concerns glass mirrors, which can break into sharp shards during sudden braking or a collision. The Securidou Mirror uses high-resistance acrylic.
The mirror works by reflecting the ambient light: you will see your baby whenever there is a light source (the vehicle's interior lighting, street lamps, overhead lights, headlights of oncoming vehicles). The XL convex surface and the anti-glare treatment capture as much light as possible for a sharp image, even in low light.
From birth, and until your baby turns forward-facing. The mirror can be used as soon as your baby travels in a rear-facing car seat (groups 0, 0+, 1: infant carriers, 0-13 kg or 0-18 kg rear-facing seats). The mirror therefore remains useful throughout this period.
