It adds cry detection, the temperature sensor and the night light with 8 lullabies. If you prefer a dedicated screen without Wi-Fi, a DECT or standard audio baby monitor will better meet that need.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) strongly advises against using consumer cardiorespiratory monitors to prevent sudden infant death, for lack of evidence that they work. For a standard baby monitor (camera + microphone), on the other hand: camera at least 1 metre from the cot, no cable within reach. Yes, with automatic infrared as soon as the light level drops below 1 lux. The camera switches to infrared mode automatically when the light fades: you can make out your baby's face, hands and movements. The infrared LEDs are invisible to the naked eye: your baby sleeps in complete darkness, but you see everything in high definition (1440p, 2x sharper than a standard HD 720p baby monitor) on your phone.
